Versailles panels wood flooring are named after the famous Palace of Versailles (Château de Versailles) in France, where in 1684 they are introduced for the first time to replace the old marble floor within the palace due to the marble floor required constant washing, which tended to rot the wooden joists beneath.
The use of parquetry flooring flourished during the building of St Petersburg in the 18th century. Manor houses and palaces were creating a demand for a greater range of interior design options. Nowadays many people are appreciating the concept of Versailles paneling and is being used in many interiors and projects worldwide from commercial building & hotels, down to humble homes who require a wow factor.
